As a Christian business owner you should NEVER do certain things. Your faith is not just a part of who you are—it’s the foundation upon which you build your business. However, in the hustle and bustle of entrepreneurship, it’s easy to veer off course and unintentionally compromise your beliefs. In this post, we’ll explore three crucial things that a Christian business owner should never do, each of which holds significant implications for both your spiritual and professional life.

3 Things A Christian Business Owner Should NEVER Do!
These are going to be controversial and I know I am going to step on toes. So put your steel toe boots on my friend because here we go!
NEVER Practice The New Age Practices of The Law of Attraction or Manifestation
In a world filled with various philosophies and practices, it’s essential for a Christian business owner to discern what aligns with Biblical truth and what doesn’t. New age manifestation techniques often promote the idea of harnessing the universe’s energy to attract success or material possessions. However, as Christians, our trust is not in the universe but in God.
Practicing the new age version of manifestation and the Law of Attraction as a christian business owner can lead you away from relying on God’s providence and sovereignty over our lives and businesses. Instead of seeking guidance from crystals or cosmic forces, or “speaking” success into existence by our own power, we should seek wisdom and provision from our Heavenly Father through prayer and faith.
I would even avoid listening to meditation apps that try to get you to visualize what you want to happen in your life. We were not designed by God to be all-knowing beings. It is dangerous to try to play God for yourself and control your own destiny.
When you try to think, speak, and visualize things into happening in your life, do you know what you are really doing? You are completely removing God from the equation. In fact, you are in essence trying to play the role of God in your own life. This, my friend, is called idolatry.
The Bible says to make your requests known to God and the peace that passes all understanding will guard your hearts. It also says that when we ask according to His will, he will give us the desire of our hearts.
Many people take these verses out of context. Yes, God wants you to set goals for yourself. And yes it is perfectly fine and fun to dream with God; but God needs to be the one receiving ALL the glory when you experience blessings in your life. Manifestation has the mindset that “I made this happen”. I “visualized my success or material thing into being” instead of trusting God for everything and giving him all the glory.
A Christian Business Owner Should Never – NOT – tithe
One of the fundamental principles of Christianity is the act of tithing—giving a portion of our income back to God. As business owners, it can be tempting to prioritize profits over faithful stewardship.
However, withholding our tithe not only goes against biblical teachings but also disrupts the flow of blessings in our lives and businesses. God promises to bless those who honor Him with their finances (Malachi 3:10). By neglecting our tithe, we miss out on the opportunity to experience His abundant provision and favor.
God is the ultimate giver, as he gave His one and only son to die for our sins. Suffice it to say that since we are made in His image, we should also be givers. He doesn’t tell us to tithe because he needs our money. In fact, God does not need, nor does he want, what is not joyfully and willfully given. It’s already His to begin with so tithing is a small way for us to say thank you to him for providing. We are his stewards and this puts our trust back in him to be the great provider.

Don’t take advice from others without going to God as well.
There are so many leaders you can get advice from and courses you can take on how to run a business. Yes, absolutely seek advice from those who are ahead of you. But remember, sometimes what is in God’s will and what is best for you is the thing that completely defies logic and only makes sense to you and God.
In the pursuit of success, it’s natural to seek advice and guidance from mentors, peers, and experts in the field. While seeking counsel from others can be valuable, it’s crucial for Christian business owners to remember the ultimate source of wisdom—God Himself. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our understanding.
Before implementing any advice or making significant decisions, take the time to seek God’s guidance through prayer and meditation on His Word.
Aligning our plans with God’s will ensures that our business endeavors are rooted in His purpose and direction, leading to long-term success and fulfillment.
In Conclusion
As Christian business owners, we are called to uphold biblical principles and honor God in all aspects of our lives, including our businesses. By avoiding practices that conflict with our faith, faithfully stewarding our resources, and seeking God’s guidance in all things, we can build businesses that not only thrive in the marketplace but also bring glory to His name.
My prayer is that you commit to walking in integrity and obedience as you navigate the world of entrepreneurship, trusting in God’s faithfulness every step of the way.
