Maybe you see other people making money off of their social media and you think, “Man that would be cool, but I have NO IDEA where to even begin!”

Perhaps you are afraid that nobody you know will buy from you, leaving you feeling like an unsuccessful loser.

In todays episode, I’m going to share with you some simple strategies to help you build a business online with confidence!

How would your life change if you mastered the skill of how to make money online by using effective marketing strategies?

I’m still learning new things every day on how to grow and make money online.  It really is a never-ending journey of learning!

If you would have asked me 10 or 15 years ago if I would ever consider quitting my job in the Operating Room to pursue a career online, I would have told you no way. I would have told you how I love my job and I am going to be here until I retire. 

But let me tell you something. When I started to research all the different ways that I could make money from my phone or computer, my ears perked up. My eyes were opened to a world I never knew existed.  

What I discovered is that it IS possible for the average “joe” to make money online straight from their social media.  Shoot, I don’t even think I had social media that long ago…I guess I’m dating myself! It just wasn’t a thing back then.  And it’s possible to do this without begging their friends and family to buy from you!

We’ve really entered a new realm of the business world. 

For example, gone are the days of doing in-home parties where you invite friends and family over to learn about your products. 

Gone are the days of 3-way phone calls. What has happened is that people don’t want to leave their homes anymore. 

Potential customers and clients are so busy today with their kids’ sports and other activities. For them to give up a friday night to go to a home party, it’s just not on their to-do list.  

And for the business owner, well they don’t want to leave their homes either. Not when they make money from their pajamas in their own office.

So if you AREN’T making money from your phone, there is a way.

Social media and e-commerce are only getting bigger.

If you are watching this video, that means you’re curious. If you do already make money online and you want to grow a larger business and following, you’ll still get value from this video because I’m going to share with you strategies to expand your network.

Growing a business starts with expansion.

  • Expansion of your network
  • Expansion of your mindset
  • Expansion of your skillset
  • Expansion of your comfort zone
Part of expanding means you have to talk to new people and more people!

Maybe you are at a position where its just not the right timing to launch a business online. 

That’s OK…there is something you can be doing NOW to grow your network in order to prepare for the day when you are ready without feeling weird or awkward.

6 Ways To Expand & Market Your Business On Social Media

Once you start practicing these effective online marketing strategies, they will become more natural to you.  In the beginning, you’re like a baby learning to walk.  You may feel that you look funny, you will wobble, and fall, but those are all growing pains.  Eventually, you will be able to pull yourself up. Those wobbly steps will turn into walking. Then walking turns into running!  This is all normal.

Your goal for now can just be connection and growing your network.  If you focus on this, it will help you build a business like you’ve never imagined. 

You will have to learn to set aside your fears, step outside of your comfort zone, and begin to build genuine connections online.

This also builds that know, like and trust factor that will lead to more sales in the long run.

Alright, let’s talk about how to expand that network of yours no matter what platform you are on.

Effective Online Marketing Strategy #1: Utilize Referral Posts

This is somewhat of an advanced step once you are already in the business. If you don’t know what referral posts are or how to do them, just message me and i’ll be happy to explain more. In a nutshell, you ask those in your network to share a curiosity post on your behalf. This is one of the fastest ways to grow your network because it automatically puts you in front of people you don’t know and it gives you quality leads.

Effective Online Marketing Strategy #2: Communities and Groups

In facebook land, you want to find groups that are based around things YOU love. It doesn’t matter what your brand is all about. The purpose of this technique is to connect and provide value while you make new connections.

Look for groups on things you are already knowledgeable about, that you can give advice on, or topics that you want to learn more about yourself.

And when you invite someone to be your friend, don’t just send a friend request.

Try having a genuine conversation. Introduce yourself so they don’t think you are just a random weirdo.

Hop in their messenger and say, “Hey Susie, I saw your comment inside the Moms Of Boys group and I really appreciated it.  I have 2 boys myself and I understand how challenging it can be to raise them!  Tell me about you and your family?”  

When you have the mindset of serving authentically, you will start to meet new friends. 

Message people. Add them as friends.  Be Genuine.

Effective Online Marketing Strategy #3: Stalk Fan Pages

Think of an influencer or famous person who you think is awesome and meet people who also like that fan page.  If someone leaves an inspirational comment, or makes a post that you agree with, go friend them!  Use them to your advantage but think about people and things you love.  Maybe a singer, actor, etc and meet them in the comments.  Start a conversation. Ask questions and give feedback.

You can also look for someone who is successful in something that you want to be successful in. Go message them and tell them you are struggling and ask them for some advice. I’ve done this and found it to be very insightful. I simply ask them for their top tips in XYZ.

Effective Online Marketing Strategy #4: Go Live!

Using lives is one of the most effective online marketing strategies that can be used to market and grow your business exponentially. To effectively leverage this tool, you want to start by planning engaging and relevant content that resonates with your target audience. Examples of this can be:

  • product demonstrations
  • behind-the-scenes looks
  • Q&A sessions
  • Interviews
  • industry insights
  • education on a relevant topic

By consistently delivering valuable and authentic content through lives, you can foster a stronger connection with your audience, increase brand awareness, and ultimately drive business growth online.

Effective Online Marketing Strategy #5: Utilize Sponsored Ads

The other day I came across an ad for a  product that was interesting to me. There were thousands of comments.  So what you can do is go into those comments and start engaging.  Maybe you see an ad for a new workout program. 

Now the products that I sell are all based around living a non-toxic health and wellness lifestyle.  What do you think are the chances that this person who is interested in their health by working out might also be interested in some non-toxic clean living products?  What could I do?  

I could comment on Suzie’s post and say, “Hey, I see that you’ve tried this program before. Tell me about how you liked it?”  Then hop into messenger and just chat about it.  Don’t try to sell them anything.  Just be their friend.  Be a human first.  Once you send them a friend request and they accept, they will start seeing your posts and stories (which will all be curiosity driven wink wink). Eventually they might start wondering what it is you sell, right? You can always circle back around to your conversation with them down the road and ask if they are open to trying your products out.

My point is…use sponsored ads. Someone else is paying a lot of money for that ad. Take advantage of it because it is full of comments from your target audience.

Effective Online Marketing Strategy #6: Embrace Short Form Video

Embracing short-form video content through platforms like Reels and YouTube Shorts can significantly contribute to the growth of your business online. They are bite-sized pieces of content that offer a dynamic and visually engaging way to capture the attention of your audience in a fast-paced online environment.

You’ll want to leverage trends and popular hashtags to increase the discoverability of your content, tapping into wider audiences.

By adapting to the trend of short-form videos, you can establish a vibrant online presence, foster audience engagement, and ultimately drive business growth.

Top mistake when creating connections:

Do NOT add just anyone and everyone.  Before you friend request someone, look at their profile and ask the following questions:

  • Are they getting likes and comments?  
  • Do they post consistently?
  • What kinds of posts do they make?
  • Are they inspiring? 
  • Encouraging?  
  • Humorous?  
  • Do they have a nice profile picture?

Now for your homework: Pick a number of how many new connections you are going to make a day. The number isn’t important, just be consistent with it. It can be 2, 5 or 10…consistency is going to grow your foll\owing and influence over time.

In summary, if you are ready to take your business to the next level, start with the expansion your mindset, skills, friends list, and network.
